FDP Forum / Fender Guitars: Telecasters / Road worn 50's telecaster vs.51' Nocaster reissue

Has anyone done a side by side compare between these 2 . How do the necks compare? Same radius and profile? Frets? Pickups? I see the Tex-Mex are used in the road worn. I have had a tele w/these and they are bright but not unpleasantly so. How do the Nocaster pickups compare? Considering the price deferential, I need to know what makes the 51 Nocaster reissue special (besides being USA made). thx, d.

Biggest difference is the neck, which is much bigger, thicker on a Nocaster. Also many Nocasters have a 9.5 inch radius. the relic job on a Nocaster will be nicer, more realistic as well. Overall better electronics, including pickups. nocaster will also come with at least one hard case. The road worn is a good guitar for the money but it only comes with a 7.25 neck radius and that can be a deal breaker for some players. I have a 2009 Road Worn that has more of the relicing done to it than the more recent ones. It is a nice guitar and I get a lot of compliments on its looks The simulated fretboard wear is missing between frets 9 &12 on most of these, but not mine which I bought used, so the original owner did something that has enhanced the wear pattern compared to how it originally looked. Mine also has a 4 way switch and DiMarzio Twang King pups, plus a black pickguard. It is the butterscotch color as well. so it looks like an old blackguard for the most part. My Nocaster is in a more rare violinburst finish. It is from 2008 and it has the Nocaster pups whereas some of the more recent Nocaster guitars come with different pups (can't remember which ones). Mine has the original wiring set up which uses a blend control instead of a tone control. I like this for a different setup and it sounds great and is versatile.
