Any of you guys ever use any chemicals, cleaners or polishes to clean up and preserve your bass case or amplifier covers? Some of my stuff is pretty old and I would like to rejuvenate the covers.

Any recommendations?

When I can, it's into the bathtub with the cover. cab, or whatever with water, dish soap, and a light-medium brush. If not the bathtub, out in the yard with a hose. Electronics are removed, naturally. Let it dry then apply STP Son of a Gun Protectant. Makes 'em look good again.

Thank you guys for your input!

I had a bottle of the STP Son of a Gun but for some stupid reason, I threw it away a couple weeks ago. It sat in the garage for a few years unused.

I found a bottle of Turtlewax Formula 2001 that has also been sitting unused for quite a few years. After cleaning the spider webs and dirt off two cases with Windex, I put a generous amount of the Formula 2001 on an rubbed it in really well and then let it sit overnight and then wiped off the lint.

The covers on both cases really came back to life and look really good. It was well worth the effort.

I cleaned all my Tolex cases and my circa 80s Music Man head (which was shamefully filthy from being in storage) with Gunk Glass Cleaner. Then I used Mequier's Ultimate Black (both of these are readily available on Amazon). The results were great--everything looks brand new.
