When you said "Schecter" I pictured a wildly asymmetric V with ends so spiky you could impale someone and some kind of similar whacked out V headstock, all set off against a lurid metalflake saturated purple. That guitar is, shall I say, tasteful, restrained. I like what they did.

Congrats !

I don't know who Brendon Small is, but I do dig the Gibson Snow Falcon Flying V.

This would have looked good on Johnny Winter !

Its an albino !

Arrived earlier today, had a bit to run it through the paces after a light (less than 5m) setup, it was almost right out of the box.

Action shredder-low, as expected. I may fix that in the next few days, but will see how I like it with a variety of things in that regard.

Fit and finish are decent, parts appear to be good Epi or higher on average - PU toggle and jack aren't as nice as the Gibson that cost 3x as much, but...serviceable.

Coil tap is not bad either. Pickups are not ridiculously hot, more vintage bucker than anything. Dead silent.

Fretwork is decent as well, and the locking tuners do their job.

I can't complain, it sounds a lot different than my 339 or LP, so that's something decent. Very nice with lots of gain, but not unusable clean either.

Will have to see how this fits in my stable, but I'm not inclined to send it back at this point!

Great review!

Have a shorter (or adjustable) strap on hand to use when playing while sitting. A V does not stay in your lap like a typical git-tar does.

All my straps are adjustable, I buy nothing but the EB mother of huge ones, they're the only ones I've ever been able to not run at max and wish for more.

Already had a purple strap for it on hand as well!

They work, I'd go with something more exciting at least on some guitars...but almost nothing comes in that length and I need it!

I've got a couple of those straps and yes, they are great bang for the buck. Those and the Dunlop D38s. Those go out to 65".

I bought Walker & Williams leather straps for my last two guitars. Very nice straps at a great price - @ $28. But I have to adjust them as long as they go to make them fit. I imagine they wouldn't work for a giant of a guy.

So did you take the plastic off the pickguard Rob?

Glad you like it, enjoy!

The plastic came off the PG and pickups the first hour once I decided there was nothing wrong with it and the forearm didn't importitis cramp up.

It seems to be filling a niche between the faux jazzbox I usually get out of the LP and the ridiculous hot of my 339 with only a Dirty Fingers in the bridge.

Cool! I've always been unnaturally attracted to asymmetric Vs,

I think it goes back to my early music store gazing days when I started playing again as an adult. I wanted the Jackson Roswell Rhoads that was hanging at a local store, it was the crop circle fretboard markers that did it for me. ;-).

If I had known how rare and pricey they were going to be, I would have found a way of buying it.

Yea, I remember those. They came out ten years too late for the market realistically, and at the time I wasn't spending as much on a cool looking plank as it'd cost to get my entire rig then twice. :)

A cool asymmetrical V that is often overlooked is the Reverend Volcano.

The more recent ones have a different 3x3 headstock.

I have one of these original ones; it's a killer.

Fairly happy.

Changed strings to my usual stainless, did some minor, minor tweaking to the setup (it was fine out of the box, I just wanted a little different action).

Plays well, sounds decent and is somewhere in between the other main guitars in my rotation for sounds on tap.

My only objective complaint (probably more for those if this was their *only* guitar) is that the bridge pickup is oddly voiced compared to the neck - I like it, it works, but...it's unlike anything else I have in that respect. It's more like a hyped-up single coil than supermean bucker, and is more "hollow" than bright in how it ends up sounding.

For the $$$, definitely no issues and I tossed the shipping box, so it's in the "keeper pile" now.

It's not going to replace my LP, but...for times I want something that's neither it nor the usual 24" Fender I run for, it fits well.
