We all want

our time in hell
Jun 1st, 2017 05:31 AM   Edit   Profile   Print Topic   Search Topic

Two things happened.

One, I finally found a purple guitar that didn't have a Floyd. I've wanted one for ages.

Second, it's expensive enough to not be in the "cheapie I won't play compared to my other stuff" these days unless it's somehow amazing.

Incoming...will report in a few days once it's here.

Hoping it does as well, I've been happy with what I've heard from Schecters in the hands of folks doing shoegaze/ambient weird stuff so it's not "just a metal guitar" like it's marketed.

Nice!

I've had three Schecters. A PT, a Tempest Custom, and an S1. All were *excellent* guitars. The one knock I had was the weenie necks. I would put them in the import-itis category. It currently keeps me from considering one - which is a shame because they make *A-LOT* of lefty models.

Reading the specs on yours, I see already the neck is beefier than the ones I had. :-)

Yea, I did a bit of research on the neck and neck width.

I knew to stay away from anything Tele-ish anyway, that causes me to get importitis forearm cramping even on MIA ones!

That's a very intriguing rendition of the V style. I'm not normally a fan of the genre, but that one is very appealing for its classic simplicity. Schecter has terrific materials and construction for this price point. Love the multi-ply binding on the body and headstock!

Yea, it was about the minimum floor I look at when there's other options out there - my days of buying Squier stuff etc is largely over unless they come out with a model I just have to have that Fender doesn't have in the main line (like a proper Bass VI instead of the Pawn Shop thing that flopped)...

I'm not much of a V fan but that guitar looks oddly appealing, from color to body/headstock symmetry.

I'm assuming the push/pull pots means coil tapping too? Cool.

Yea, we'll see how useful that is - varies a ton from guitar to guitar (I mostly use it on the two I have with it already to mess up the impedance so different fuzzes react differently).

When you said "Schecter" I pictured a wildly asymmetric V with ends so spiky you could impale someone and some kind of similar whacked out V headstock, all set off against a lurid metalflake saturated purple. That guitar is, shall I say, tasteful, restrained. I like what they did.

Congrats !

I don't know who Brendon Small is, but I do dig the Gibson Snow Falcon Flying V.

This would have looked good on Johnny Winter !

Its an albino !
