Yeah, these made an appearance at NAMM.

Looks like it's PRS's turn to sue Gibson HAR! [snort!]

Boy, that's nice. Finally, a Gibson with one volume!!! But $4k, tho....

I think the headstock carve is that they kept more wood around the area where the headstock joins the neck to reduce the dreaded infamous Gibson headstock crack-off.

The good things about this new model:

Metal jack plate. C'mon, Gibson, do the same for all the Les Pauls. Plastic? Really?

Grover lima beans. The Gibson-branded Tone Pros 'Kluson' copies (with the cast cases) that they use on a bunch of their guitars--even the expensive ones--are quite fragile. C'mon, Gibson, step up and get rid of those cheepo cast-case tuners.

The control layout: One volume, one tone, and a switch. I'm sure others will disagree (hard-core Les Paul players will not dig this) but that makes total sense to me.

Really no bad things about this guitar, however it must've been the C-Team on duty in their PR department when they developed the product ad for the Website. New Neck heel, huh? And no picture of it. New headstock carve! And no picture of it? Unbelievable.

I am a Gibson freak...the ones I have are really great guitars. But come ON, Gibson--you're blowing a great opportunity with your crap ad work.

So is the new Apex headstock carve another term for a volute?

I think a Firebird headstock or a variant on it would fit the vibe better, but I like the body shape.

Personally, I like it. But I am *not* a die-hard LP guy. I've tried, but I just don't connect with them (and the 4 knob thing).

As much as I like the look & design of that Gibson, I'll have to wait for the Epiphone version to afford one!

I agree with Brent. I like that shape but it does seem to be asking for a six-on-a-side tuner set-up.

I don't think it's a horrible design, but I'm sorry, that looks like a $400 guitar...at best.

$4,000!?!?!?

MLC, that's a standard response for people shopping for Gibsons. It's what they'd want to hear from a test market, haha!

I agree. A six on one side headstock of some sort would look better. Or some other styled headstock.

Yeah, a different headstock would make this far more marketable. Looks like they're not interested in modernizing the headstock.

Gibson is not paying attention to the market.

Probably spells death for this line.

I'm too traditional. I like the original design much better. 60 years proves it.

I agree with Bbender, but if I was a gigging musician I'd definitely check them out. They seem very ergonomically reasonable and they introduced them in gold so that gets some points from me.

The one volume and tone thing doesn't bug me at all since I never blend pups on my LP. Maybe I should look into it.
