I acquired a couple second hand pedals this week.

Both MXR. The Il Torino Overdrive/Boost and the Super Badass Distortion.
Believe it or not, the Super Badass is my first distortion pedal. I've always gone for OD's over distortion, but I'm really liking it! (however I am setting it to a fairly low gain compared to where it *can* go) (full-on metal sound)

This case of GAS started after reading a recent post about the Suhr Eclipse (which I still want btw). There was discussion about OD's with 3 band EQ, and FDP'er davywhizz mentioned having the Il Torino and how under-rated a pedal it is.
So after couple of searches and demos, I checked out the used market and found one straight away. The SBA (3 band EQ also) came about simply via the Il Torino search. I happened to find a used one of those as well and figured WTH.
What's great is that they work really well together (IT OD into SBA). I think it may have something to do with the buffer in the IT. And the Boost mode on the IT is very usable & cool too.

Whilst together they're not the Suhr Eclipse, I got "dual OD" for less than half the price.
Winning...

Ryder,

I like both of these new toys, but if I had to choose between the two, it would be the Il Torino.

They've been out for a couple of years, but haven't seemed to generate much buzz (pardon the pun).

Maybe in a time where there is such an over abundance of OD choices, the IT just got lost in the crowd.

It's a great sounding pedal with a lot of flexibility, nice transparency and simple operation.
If you haven't seen it already, linked below is one of the official MXR demos.
The bluesy nature of the playing is what really appealed to my ears.

It's not just good..

...it's good enough.

I've had that Il Torino on my radar for a while.

I got sidetracked when I found tc electronics was selling their MojoMojo for $50. The MojoMojo has turned out to be a great pedal, but I'd still like to check out an Il Torino.

Very pleased you like the Il Torino Mick. I was looking at the Super badass to add to it before I got the Suhr Eclipse.

Wouldn't this be considered PAS? (A subset of GAS)
