I had both my knees replaced in March, three weeks apart. Healing has been going well. I'm done with PT and opioids, but lots of pain and stiffness yet.

I have my first gig tonight since the surgery. Should be interesting. We play the first Fri of every month at a great little bar in Minocqua WI. The gig is 8-M but we usually start 1/2 hour early and go over 45 minutes...with two short breaks. (Springsteen has nothing on us...and we set up our own equipment.)

I'll be sitting on a stool as my stamina standing isn't there yet. I haven't sang since our Feb gig.

I'll report after the gig.

Good luck! My hip replacements are awesome, and I can stand all night now. Or at least, a heck of a lot longer than I used to!

My right shoulder is barking...after a shotgun recoil incident years ago....
At 58 it's (the barking shoulder is) getting worse....
I still go to the gym....some definition (bi'e/tri's) are ok but when I bench....clicking/grinding.....in my right shoulder....not during incline..though
Not disturbing my sleep (yet). Once the shoulder starts impacting my performing (flute/clarinet/saxophone) posture I will be the first in line to go under the knife .....probably during January as my schedule fills in mid Feb/early March.

So, how did the gig (and the knees) go last night? Inquiring minds want to know.

Our gig went great. I needed no help hauling my gear in or out. (But my wife always helps anyway)

I sat on my stool...a rather tall, modified folding stool with a wide bicycle seat that is taller than most stools. From the audience it looks more like I'm leaning on something rather than sitting.

First set was 2 hours long. No problem. I sing 1/3 of the songs. I was a bit guarded after almost 3 months of no singing.

We had two short 10 minute breaks in what was a 4 1/2 hour gig. (We didn't play over but started early). The place was absolutely packed.

During the breaks I walked around the building and stretched. I did get stiff sitting. I stood up a couple songs. My right knee, the one I had done first, was pretty good. My left isn't quite there yet.

I'm off and "running" again. No ill effects on Sat, other than my usual being tired the day after a gig.

My new knees are starting to feel normal. I've got a ways to go but it's almost all good.
