Got a new one and had horrible buzz except while touching the strings. Figured it was a grounding problem, but the Fender warranty repair shop checked everything and said it was okay. Got it home, and the same thing. My Strats and P90 guitars don't buzz, plus I checked my home wiring. Called Fender Customer Service and played the buzz for him over the phone. He said they had trouble with these noiseless pickups and he would send a note to a friend in the warranty department, and to have the repair shop call and ask for the guy. He also told me I would not have any problem with the warranty. He also told me when I got the replacement noiseless pickups to put them on Ebay and not put them back in the guitar. Get a good set of regular pickups. So I took the guitar back to the warranty shop and they called Fender. Fender had them run some electronic tests and send them the results. Fender said the pickups were in spec. and would not warranty them. I'm putting in a set of Lollar '52's and throwing the Fender pickups in the trash where they belong. Buyer beware... Other than the pickups, it's a very nice guitar. I've been playing Fenders since 1959, so this isn't my first rodeo...

Just had the exact problem!

Sweetwater had me send it back, on them, and guaranteed a solution. Fix mine or a new one are the choices. I'm pretty sure they will check it out before sending it. They have been great so far. Called them on Wed., shipped Wed., on them, and it was delivered to them this morning, Friday.

Now, I wait to hear what they say. I've heard so many good things about these pickups and I will say, they sound great apart from the buzz.

I have a thread started about this very problem.

And I agree, I've never had this problem either.

Hmmmm... I've been following Ryder's thread(s) on this topic.

I'll be interested to hear more on this.

The fact that two separate new Thinline Deluxe owners, within just this community, something ain't right.

A W, I'd be pushing the issue further with Fender.
Take it as high up as you can go before chucking out those pickups.
And, if you don't get satisfaction from Fender, mention the BBB and see if their tune changes.

Update, A.W.
Just heard from the tech at Sweetwater. He said they pulled one off the shelf and played them side by side...same results. He said the hum in these VN pups is inherent. Not his fault but I wanted to ask, why did they name them Noiseless?

My choice to exchange or not. This is the only guitar that fits my needs right now. Bad back, bad heart, gotta have lightweight. Want Tele tone.

I chose to exchange for the same model with the deal of exchanging it for a different guitar altogether if I can't live with it.
