If it's a waterslide decal you printed yourself, hard to say if it's okay because it depends on the ink jet ink you used. It may wipe right off.

Best thing to do is give the decal a few light coats of clear lacquer before you cut it out from the paper and apply it to the surface.

The lacquer will 'lock' the ink in place and prevent the Tru Oil from dissolving it.

I tried this once and the Tru-Oil dissolved the decal. Fortunately this happened on a trial run on some scrap. On the real guitar, I hit the decal with several coats of quick-drying polyurethane varnish, let that dry. That sealed in the decal and I was able to Tru-Oil over that without problems.

If you can possibly due a trial run, do it.

The decal has a lacquer coating...I bought a custom made decal. I was going to use lacquer but it seems that it may take up to month for the lacquer to cure and I'm anxious too get my neck ready to put on my body. Thanks again everybody!

Well, Tru Oil is not much faster than lacquer if done correctly (multiple coats). You won't save that much time to make a difference.
