This photo was taken from our living room window on my iPhone. We typically get colorful sunsets like this one across the golf course.

Nice stuff. I like sunset photos even if they are a bit cliche. Haven't taken any in awhile but I've gotta bunch.

Really all photos are cliche. Everything's been photographed a billion billion times. I guess the true test of a photo is, does it make the viewer want to study the photo more closely. Does it suck in the viewer, and make them think.

A really good photo I can study for minutes, and then want to look at it again later and beyond.

Some are snapshots, and some are compelling.

I like gulls too, and photograph them.

Usually I photograph, what catches my eye. Sometimes I'll take a photo, and later on looking at it I realize I should have kept shooting more, because there was more to the scene then I consciously realized at the time.

I'm learning by looking at my own photos, that often I'm not seeing the bigger picture when it comes to framing and composition.

I can look at a photo and say to myself, this photo looks like a snapshot, but if I would have just moved to the left 10 feet and drop down lower it could have maybe been really good.

Well, not all photos, but certainly all of mine are. :o)

Check out Huntington Witherill for someone who sees differently. On the one hand, his subjects are a cliche. On the other, he sees them differently than most.

He's a great example of less is more.

Oh, and just to add a sunset photo...

What did you shoot that with, saturn? Really excellent color, and micro contrast.

The fine variations in color really stand out, and make it pop. Beautiful!

Chris, awesome sunset, and the bird makes for a perfect focal point. The bird brings it all together.

That was about a third of the original frame. It was also shot at ISO 2000 so between the crop and the ISO, it's a little noisy. But yeah, the bird.
