Just ordered myself the new version of the Fender Roadhouse Strat today. I really like what they have done with the Roadhouse....
-22 frets
-locking tuners
-6 position variable preamp tone control
-S-1 switch which turns on or off the preamp
-and yes it's powered by a battery with an easy access door in the back
-Vintage Noiseless pickups.

These new series of guitars are fully loaded and at $1079 Canadian they are a great deal.

I ordered the Classic Copper color which looks really nice. Click on the color options to see the Classic Copper color. It looks more red in the picture but check out youtube videos for a more realistic view.

I guess I'll have to unload a guitar in my collection to make room for this one!

Here it is

Nice!
I've got one of the Deluxe Lone Star Strats from that series. (Ocean Turquoise) It's not as many bells & whistles as the Roadhouse, but very nice guitar.

Let us know when you get it! Congrats too!

Fender putting battery doors on Strats has been a long time coming. They cheaped out for years with the Clapton Strat.

Thanks all. The Classic Copper finish is unique looking to this guitar. I agree the battery door is a great idea. They also did that on the Powerhouse Strat which I also own and is also a great guitar.

Received my guitar yesterday and.......
I have returned it for a replacement.

The guitar had a low fret 14th fret and the all strings just choked off even without bending. Also the neck to body pitch was wrong because the action was ultra low with the bridge saddles set high.

Hey folks all of us guitar hoarders (let us admit it, we are) will eventually get a lemon and I just returned one. But although I never even plugged it in I will admit it will be a great guitar. It's a lot of guitar for the money.

They have another in Classic Copper in stock and will be shipping it out soon. I will keep you all posted.

Sounds like it needed a truss rod adjustment, but that's just a guess.

"Sounds like it needed a truss rod adjustment, but that's just a guess."

Truss Rod adjustment would be no good in this case. The problem occurred too far down the neck and was isolated to one low fret. Also the neck to body pitch was wrong.

Well folks I didn't receive my Roadhouse this week because of an interesting situation.

The dealer which I ordered it from gave me a tracking number which I eagerly checked every day. I finally got a confirmation that it was at the depot here in town and being put on the truck for delivery.

I raced to the depot to pick up my guitar and it was still there. Yeah!!!

The guy at the depot said "man that box is really light!" I thought great! I love a light weight Strat. Picked up the box and it felt empty! Immediately I knew there was something wrong but still in disbelief I opened the box to find....
An empty gig bag and accessories! How in the heck could anybody ship out a box with just a gig bag and assume that the guitar is inside. I called the dealer and told them what happened. They called me back 30 minutes later telling me that the guitar is still hanging on the wall! Suffice to say I requested a refund immediately.

I've now ordered the guitar through my local dealer and will wait it out for awhile.

I won't give the name of the dealer who shipped out the guitarless box because I know weird stuff can happen. But it was and interesting incident.

Stay posted because as soon as I get my Roadhouse I will give you my review.....providing it's in the box when it arrives....

Yikes! Well, that's a new one. Better luck with the next delivery. At least it will be your local dealer's problem if it happens again!

Back in the '70's, I ordered a Jaguar, and a Jazzmaster arrived, but that's another story.

Well folks I did receive my replacement Classic Copper Roadhouse Strat today and....

Great guitar.
Perfect setup right out of the box. Action, intonation, fit, finish all perfect. Nut is well cut. All switches and pots are flawless. I bought a new American Special a few weeks back but the Roadhouse wins in playability.

Love the preamp on this guitar. The middle tone control is a 6 position boost control. In minimum position it doesn't seem to have much affect when activated but as you click each position clockwise it starts to fatten up the tone.

I found that when the boost control is in max position it knocks off more treble and kicks in more mids. However setting the boost to the 5th click position yields a great clean boost. The effect is very similiar to an Xotic EP Booster if anybody owns one of these. The guitar retains its tonal character only fatter, louder an more open detail. This feature is a great improvement on this guitar.

The S-1 type push switch on the volume control is simply an on/off switch for the boost circuit. So this is great for having a volume boost and punch set up for leads. When your are ready for a volume boost just push the switch to the "out" position" to kick it on. Yeah the boost feature is actually activated when the push switch is out and pushing it in deactivates the circuit. It's a little weird getting used to but that's how the switch works. Just remember this and you'll be fine.

Vintage Noiseless pickups keep the noise away. And the rear tone control works for all pickup positions. Another great feature that should be on all Strats.

22 Frets like the modern American Strats, locking tuners, 2 point tremolo and 70's style headstock which some may like and some won't. Also a contoured neck heel. This guitar offers most features that would only be found on high end American models.

This guitar has all the great features that gigging guitarist will appreciate.

All I may do with mine is change the strings from stock 9-42's to 10-46's and adjust the neck and intonation if needed because of the string gauge. Pickups are subjective and one person's favorite pickup is another person's hated pickup so we won't even go there.

The new Roadhouse is a great guitar. Take that from somebody that owns a LOT of guitars. Worth every penny.

I went to a guitar shop today to put a down payment on a guitar I have on order and walked out with a Classic Copper Deluxe Roadhouse Strat. The missus convinced me I needed it. The upgrades, compared to the previous Texas Special version are awesome. They are (with the previous version in brackets):

- 12" radius fret board (9.5").
- Contoured neck heel with 4-Bolt Asymmetrical neck plate (standard heel).
- Narrow tall frets (medium jumbo).
- Locking short post tuners (standard tuners).
- two point trem (vintage trem).
- modern string trees (vintage string trees).

Other than the pre-amp and external battery door (a big +) the earlier version was a bit ho-hum because it had features I've got on many Strats. The new version offers a whole bunch more that make it very attractive. My example is awesome, well set-up, high attention to detail and the VNs sound great. I had an earlier Ash Deluxe Players and the VNs were very bright and punchy. I liked 'em but these ones sound better, not so bright, not so punchy and a little more vintage. Anyway, she's a great guitar in every respect.

Sure do.

"Well *she's* a keeper too!!!"

She is so and has been for a loooooooong time.

Anyway, the Roadhouse is great. Had an attack of the guilts for a bit for spending money that we shouldn't have but soon got over it.
