This one will hopefully take care of my Tele itch. I sold my American tele a couple of years ago because it was just too heavy for me. I still miss the sound though.

One reason I chose this was because of the Vintage Noiseless pickups. I play at church and single coils really hum.

I think it will get here tomorrow but below are pictures of the actual guitar from Sweetwater. Got a great credit deal.

I haven't had a Fender with a rosewood board in many years. Looking forward to it.
Come to think of it, I've never had a sunburst Fender either.

Short report: I love this rosewood neck and 12 inch radius. It seems very easy to play!

Report and Question: I still love the neck...so smooth.
I am starting to really like the pups.

My question is about why the neck pickup is quite a bit louder than the others. Is it supposed to be that way. I mean, it sounds great but not really balanced with the other switch positions.

Or, do I simply need to lower the pickup?

So far, the Bugera is the amp I seem to prefer with this guitar. So far, that is.....

Sounds like you just need to adjust the pickup heights - to get the right balance and sound from each, individually and together.

Also sounds like you got a good one! (;^D)

"...the neck pickup is quite a bit louder than the others. Is it supposed to be that way?..."

Even though the bridge pickup is usually wound a little hotter than the neck pickup, it tends to be lower in volume because of the lesser string motion near the bridge. So while it's common for a new guitar to come out of the case with a louder neck pickup, I wouldn't say it's "supposed to be that way." While it's a matter of personal preference, most players are going to want more equal volume between the two pickups.

On a Telecaster, I normally raise the treble side of the bridge pickup until the high E string barely clears the pickup pole piece when the string is fretted at the last fret and played hard. Then I adjust the bass side of the pickup to balance out the volume between the high E and low E. Then I adjust the neck pickup to be about equal loudness as the bridge pickup.

Thanks guys. I'll play it for awhile and see how it goes.

When I take a different guitar to play at church I like to get used to it first.

The action is a bit high but it doesn't bother me if it will be good for slide too.

I may as well try lowering the pickup first.

Or, I could raise the bridge pickup.

Ok, I give up. Do the three screws around the bridge pup adjust the height? Clockwise for raising?

I also got the switch positions wrong.

The 4th position (at the top) is both pickups in series. That's what is louder. The neck by itself (3rd position) is about the same volumn at the bridge.

I sure like that 4th position.

"Do the three screws around the bridge pup adjust the height? Clockwise for raising?"

Zactly. The "top" & "bottom" ones adjust treble side and bass side respectively. The middle one can adjust "angle" (FLOABW) towards or away from bridge.

"The 4th position (at the top) is both pickups in series. That's what is louder."

Yep, completely normal. Has a humbucker-ish quality to it tone-wise. Good for a boost for solos.
