...I was listening to a lot of Smithereens at the time :-p

I decided to redo it unabashedly with a bass intro.

It has a nice hook. I don't hear that a lot anymore.

Thanks man, I used Toontracks EZDrummer. I love the program. So far I've picked up additional modules Indie Folk, Latin Percussion, Nashville and Songwriters drum pack. I scratch the tracks out in stand alone mode then fine tune things when I import into Pro Tools.

I really like this! It gives me hope for my own current project, which is re-doing some long-neglected pieces that I wrote in the '90s.

Thanks JMJ and Greg. Yeah, technology has really made it so much easier to breathe new life into old ideas, even if it's just for shirts and giggles.

I've had this Latin beat thing bouncing around in my head for a long time but couldn't find the right groove to use as a base, even in the EZDdrummer Latin groove library. After some youtubing, I discovered I was after a cha cha beat. Followed a drum tutorial and built the groove with a cajon, shaker and conga. But it need something more using triplets and such, so I built a loop using an oatmeal can. Hah.

This home recording is fun stuff.

Oh my goodness! A song with actual structure ,plus with lyrics that are articulate. Sounds great to me. No complicated, buried vocals and a nicely mixed background. Pleasant!
