Good afternoon Everyone,

I've recently acquired a Crimson Red MIM Deluxe Players Strat and am thinking about changing the pickguard to either a parchment or anodized gold. I can't seem to find a pickguard anywhere where there is an additional hole for the noiseless pickup button. Would anyone be able do direct me to someone who may have this in stock ? Pictured below is a picture of what I have. Thanks

Hi ed531.

Don't think you'll have much luck finding a direct replacement.
Your best option is just buy a pickguard that you like; lay the old one over the new; trace the hole location with a fine mechanical pencil and drill a new appropriate sized hole.

Dimple the centre of the hole trace first; drill a pilot hole with a small bit (1/16"?) and graduate successively up to the final size. Use a slow drill speed or an old-fashioned crank type drill.

Done!

Yeah drill the small hole but then use a very sharp reamer to enlarge......or turn the increasing larger bits by hand.

Some PG companies, such as greasy groove, will cut a custom PG if you send them a useable tracing. The extra charge might be cost prohibitive, esp for one hole.

If you're hesitant on DIY, first practice on some scrap plastic.

Hey Thanks Tony Salieri,

I may try to route the hole myself with a dremel on an anodized gold pickguard. I just have to disassemble the current tortoise pickguard and determine how that button is mounted.

You could also try drilling a much tinier hole and installing a mini switch instead of the push switch.

THIS - I highly recommend the mini-toggle switch mod. *So* much easier to switch on the fly than a push-button.

Easy to wire up too.

Mini toggle switch sounds like a great alternative. Thank You for the input
