Curious if anyone here has any experience or opinions on the CE100D? Some years back I sold my X-500 Stuart and have regretted it ever since...I used it for Jazz, fingerstyle melodic stuff as well as Rockabilly when strung up a bit lighter. The CE100D looks like it might be a nice semi affordable alternative to laying out large cash at this stage of my life. I can't see going long on any high end gear.

Any comments would be considered and appreciated.

I can't comment on that specific guitar model from first-hand experience, but I'm very happy with my Newark Street Starfire I Bass re-issue (also MIK). Great build quality and no issues whatsoever.

I got mine during a 15%-off sale at FDP sponsor MF. They have a similar sale going on right now, so you might want to click the link at the top of the page and give what they have in stock a look.

Willie, I have an early-production (2013?) Guild M-75 Aristocrat. The build quality and fit/finish is superb. It's basically a hollowbody Les Paul. Super lightweight and lovely sounding. Very versatile for all manner of music styles.

Knowing how much you love the 335, I cannot imagine you would be unhappy with the CE-100. The pickups are lower-powered than the Gibson humbuckers, but it also makes them slightly more jangly, which is a good thing when you need that sound.

If you buy from a vendor with a generous return policy, you're only risking the cost of return shipping if you don't bond with it.

Thanks Peegoo...Yeah I really like the versatility of the CE100D. I have always been pretty much a Gretsch guy with the exception of my old ES-335 that I truly love, but don't want to really duplicate its size or capabilities so I am trying not to go with the electromatic 5420 or 5422 and I don't want to afford the pro series stuff or a true vintage instrument. I am concerned about the feedback potential of the CE100D at gig volumes.

I was a guild dealer and loved the product line though FMIC has done a real number of it since I was involved in the sales and service process. I think the CE100D might well be the closest product to fill in what I want...plus I do love the look of it. Sweetwater is my dealer of choice but they are currently out of stock there....we shall see my friend. Thanks again.

I bought a CE100D Capri from Sweetwater last year. I really love the neck on it. Not too fat, not too thin and not too wide. Frets are very nicely done and can't find fault with fit & finish. It came with 11's on it and those had to go. Re-strung it with 10's and it needed nothing further. I was warned that the "fake Bigsby" would give me trouble but that has not been the case. Tuning stability is superb. The Grover tuners are great. Hardshell case is pretty nice. The guitar just drips with old school rockabilly tone. It's a really nice guitar and I should play it more often as it really does play & sound good.

Ironically, I received my CE-100D today from Sweetwater...the last one they had in stock actually. I'm loving it. I lowered the action a bit more to my liking but other than that, it was great right out of the box. It does indeed offer a wide range of tones. The finish is excellent and the neck is comfortable and well fretted. Oh, one of the little Guild "G" knob insets had fallen off in the case when I got it, but I glued it back on and all is right with the world. :)

Whoa! Twilight Zone stuff there!

The $1,000 mark for guitars coming out of China seems to be a good bang for buck. I just bought an Ibanez JSM10 Semi-Hollowbody Signature guitar from Sweetwater. Sweet, sweet guitar and $1,099.

Congratulations... :)

I find this CE-100D to be a fine addition and does the hollow body sound thing really well where my ES-335 leaves off.

Outstanding!

Don't let the 335 get lonely. It is a real sweetie too.
