mistermullens-I have to say I really liked your tones at the Jam! But, I don't understand the move up to .011's. Did the .010's not feel right or your slide work sounds better with .011's?
The only way I could move up to 10/11's would be for me to tune down a half step! Love to see the pics!

Bill-Got the plate today! Thank You so much!
Very kewl!

I'm going to paint the risers and stringers in a hi-gloss white and then run rope lighting around the risers. That will high light the license plates in the risers! Yeah I know I'm a nut case 😂😂😂!
Mrs Zen suggested this and I think it's a nice idea!

Zen, I moved up to 11s just for the feel. I could have gotten by with 10s, but it just felt a bit loose. Feels real good now. I haven't played 11s in over 10 years, but their nice. I'm enjoying the slide sound as well. The sustain seems better as well.

FWIW...I recently purchased a new Guild CE-100D and it came with D'Addario EXL115 .011-.049 Nickel strings on it. I was amazed that they didn't feel all that large. I use .011 gauge strings on my acoustics but generally use .010 gauges on my electrics (sometimes the .095's). The .011's were quite bendable with excellent tone, easy chording and allowed an excellent and low action set-up. I'm impressed and surprised.

willie-That's interesting on the 11's for your Guild
I use 11's on my acoustic also but, don't do to much bending lol.

The reason I use .095s on all my electrics is I can't bend the .017 G string as quick or as precise as I want. The .016 G feels a lot better in that regard.

I've also used .095's for many years, especially on solid body guitars. I do like the .010 to .052 pure nickel strings on my ES-335.

Just making another call out for any one that has old license plates (they can donate) sitting round and collecting dust lol!

I'd love to have them for a project here at the Jam house!
Thanks

Funny you should say that!
I'm using it on a recording project and it sounds Great imho!

Sometimes I ask myself why I keep my tube amps but, I hate to part with what I love!

Maybe one day but, not now!

She commented on it because, or course this is her idea. It is!
She also, loves Florida!

: )

No I haven't had the time to take the Budda in. It's on my list. Trust Me!
It will happen soon.

I'm having to upgrade some recording hardware at the moment!
I've kind of thrown myself into the recording world and loving it!

I would love to do more of it. I'm steeped in old school analog recording but am trying to make the transition to digital.

willie-Correct for me to on the analog thang!
That's what's thrown me for a loop in thinking old school with the new technology! What's helping me is my nephew went to Full Sail recording school in Orlando and spent 3/4 years as head engineer for a very large mega church here in Marietta.

He really knows his stuff and I guess it doesn't hurt that he built his first PC In 5th grade lol!!!

He would like me to switch to Pro Tools but right now Studio One is getting the job done. At some point I'll probably go there but it's what I can afford right now.

And with all the tech stuff aside!

I have finally learned how to smoke Boston Butts!
Oh MY!
This is incredible!!!
I was watching QVC with Mrs Zen drinking coffee one morning and they had these small electronic smokers for sale. They showed the butts and I said I've already got the smoker give it a shot!
I did and you guys are gonna LOVE IT!
Can't wait, it's that good!!!

Hey, good deal on the smoker.

I still use an old Yamaha MT4X mixer/cassette recorder that records in high speed. I also have a A/D converter that I use as well as The Audacity app on my desktop computer that I use quite a lot now and amp trying to get better at. Still I am used to being on the other side of the glass with headphones on and an engineer running the reels and the board on the other...hard transition and learning curve for an old guy. :)

You think you guys got recording problems, all my recordings come out way too loud, because I'm practically deaf. ;)
