About 3 - 4 years ago the Peavey Windsor 100w head showed up as a SDOTD. I snagged one as a mod platform.

In stock form these are buzz-boxes. But, with 3 12AX7s and a quad of EL34s these have lots of potential.

I reworked the preamp to a configuration more like an old Marshall 2203 100w MV head. Gone are the buzzy OD tones and in place of those are some rich Marshall tones. The range of this amp can acheive vintage 4-holer Marshall tones right through the 2203. I left the cathodyne Phase Inverter in place so the "texture" control still functions. This mimics the Class A-Class A/B functionality of the original amp and tames the power output in the Class A side of that control. I also kept the resonance control. I also kept the effects loop intact. I also upgraded the screen grids on the output tubes for safety/longevity. They are now 1k5 resistors. I think they originally were 700 ohm 3 watts resisters.

In a nutshell. The front end of the amp was revoiced. The back end of the amp was not altered except for the screen grids. You can also set the amp up for clean tones and run your fave OD pedal in front. Mine these days is a SD Twin Tube.

As stated, the amp was bought new and modded. It probably has 10 hours on it. And 5 on the output tubes.

V1 has a Mullard (Russian) 12AX7/ECC83 long plate tube. Other preamp tubes are JJ ECC83S. The original EL34s (JJs) died after a few hours. They were replaced with a matched quad of EH 6CA7s.

Yes, that's a Mack Bulldog in place of the Peavey logo. :-)

I'd sell for $350 + shipping.

I'd trade for a lower-watt tube head of some sort. - Preferably a max of 20 - 30w.

I live in central VA these days so meeting might be an option for some.

This amp needs to be gigged.
