Are these two that much different?

I'm just getting back into teles after a while without one. But also have been interested in semi hollows with P90s.

The big difference, is that the JA has a set neck and a Gibson scale length, so it's really a "Gibsonized" Tele.

Funny enough, the JA has an ash body, while the MP is mahogany. You'd think it would be the other way around.

Other than that, the JA is like an upgraded version of the MP. Seymour Duncan pups, better hardware, pots, etc. The MP is made in China.

Also, the JA has a "modern C" neck carve, which is a little more contoured, and slightly thicker, I guess.

No first hand experience with either of these, but the obvious differences are the pickups and the neck.
Seymour Duncans vs Fender P90's, and set neck vs bolt on.
Those *could* be very significant differences depending on personal pov/preference.
Some would argue the set neck disqualifies it as a Tele ;^P

I did a web search in hope of finding a direct comparison but it didn't yield much useful.

FWIW, I had a FMT Tele with set neck & HH.
I now have 2 Standard Teles and love 'em both.

edit to add:
Yeah, I missed the difference in neck scales. Thanks PV. That's another tick in *could* be significant difference column.
