I posted a few weeks ago about a co-worker giving me a disassembled Japanese Strat. The saddles are pretty worn so I thought I'd replace them.

Now for the kicker. I measured the distance, center-to-center, between the outer holes for the intonation adjustment screws to get a string spread dimension. 2-1/8". WHAT??? I've heard of 2-7/32' and 2-1/16' but, not 2-1/8". Of course I had already ordered the saddles from StewMac for a 2-7/32" spread. Yup, they don't fit. Nobody sells saddles for a 2-1/8" string spread. So, what do I do? Just use ones for a 2-1/16" bridge? Even though it would be minimal, it seems to me that there would be too much of a gap between them, allowing them to move a little.

Do I just need to order a new 2-1/16" spread bridge and be done with it?

Probably a metric bridge with 54 mm string spacing. That would take 10.8 mm saddles. They're out there, for...

Correct, and not that uncommon. Should be easy to find. Wilkinson & others make them.
