The link will be posted here as well as sent to known email addresses. You can always update your email on the FDP or send me an email so I can make sure my distro is up to date

Expect the List of Love to come out probably this coming week. Then final selection and lock in with a little over a month to practice.

This is Andrews gig and I am only helping out so it is up to him when the exact timing of these things happen. But we have been talking about it and it will happen soon

Gman said something vague abut me posting drunk posts late at night... I know not of which he speaks. However...I was trying to think of any Zappa material we could do that wouldn't involve funky timing changes or chords from the devil's tab book. would there be an love for...

The List of Love is up, thanks to gmanNJ!

Now is the time for you to vote on songs that participants have suggested for the jam:

Please click on the link (below) to the "List of Love" of dozens of proposed songs. Vote "Yes" to songs you'd like to hear and/or play in March. If a song doesn't get enough "love" it will be dropped.

PLEASE DON'T DELAY. We need to firm up the list in the next several days.

We are also taking write-in votes, down at the bottom of the list, if you haven't yet suggested songs or if you just thought of an awesome one. If there are write-ins, we'll offer a second round of selection to let other people give their opinions. About 40 songs will be selected for the jam.

Thank you!

Great choice of songs to vote on!

Thank You Andrew & G-Man

My only observation, is that there were not a lot of "Banjo" tunes for SteveCarlo to play.

Besides, the "Voices" in my head have presented an interesting question; "HOW do you incorporate the sounds of a Banjo & B-3"??????

Regardless, all of the "Voices" in my head agree: LETS GET THIS PARTY STARTED!!!!

Signing off from the Griz-Cave.

See you all soon.

Griz, I can think about several songs on teh list that would do well with a mando or banjo treatment

Okay, GmanNJ has posted the final setlist for the March 5 jam, and it is now OPEN for signups.

You can request up to FIVE parts in EACH instrument category--guitar, bass, drums, keys, voice, other.

To sign up, go to the final setlist (see linky), check for open slots, and then email your requests to me, atrotter@aol.com, and cc: GmanNJ, gfortney@gmail.com. The list also shows you the set order.

Parts will be assigned based on email time-stamps, so please don't try to sign up via this thread. We will update the jam list regularly, so you know that you have gotten your parts. We open up parts in several rounds to be fair to people who access email and the FDP at different times of the day.

FYI, we had 14 people voting for songs, so we should expect about that number at the jam; we could let in a few more.

This is Round 1. In a few days, we will have Round 2 with up to five more picks per category, then Round 3, before opening the floodgates for signups. We will also limit to 10 the number of instrument slots--guitar, bass, etc.--unless we get open slots at the end. (Guitarists, consider this a chance to work on your skills at bass!)

Feel free to ask me or Gman any questions. Thanks!

There are a few horn songs so I would like to stand up the "DC Horns" for this event. So if you play a horn (either now or in a past life) and want to join in on a horn section let me know and I will send you the appropriate charts. I will bring my Bari & Tenor sax, Evan will bring his Tenor sax.

for our purposes a "horn" is any band instrument so woodwinds (like sax) and flutes etc are welcome. I have some very easy charts so dont worry about level of difficulty. If you are so inclined there may be parts for a solo but dont feel like you need to be a pro in order to participate. this is a group effort and really adds a punch to the songs. We do this at Clamfest with the OTL Horns and it raises the bar substantially.

so email me if you want to be part of the DC Horns

I KNOW there's a guitar player here who's been waiting for a chance to tackle Gary Moore's "Still Got the Blues." Anybody? :^)

OK--I'm out of the "Grizcave" and I saw my shadow, hibernation is over. It is time to "PARTY".

Andrew & G-Man; Great Song List, I signed up for round "1", and ready for round "2".

CONGRATULATIONS to the DC Horn Section, this is "Only the Beginning". (I know, lame Chicago reference, give me a break, I just woke up!)

Spread the word everyone, the DC March is on. I know we haven't heard from everybody yet.

@SteveCarlo: There are some great songs for Banjo solos for you my friend.

The voices in my head are telling me it is time to go to the "Woodshed", see you all soon.

Good morning jammers!
Round 2 commences now. You may now pick up to five more slots for each instrument/voice category.

FYI, for the next round we temporarily will cap an individual's total number of choices in any ONE category at 10, to give the sluggards a chance to play their instrument... Round 3 should start on Thursday or Friday.

Any questions, shoot 'em to me or Gman.

@SteveCarlo; OK,OK,;You win, I will keep my promise. Any song that you are playing Mandolin or Banjo in, I will sign up for.

BUT!!!! Please, "NO KILTS"; if the voices in my head start laughing, I won't be able to keep time.

Got to go now, it's time for my medications!!

Griz, methinks thou dost protest too much. You too will soon be letting freedom swing.

Now, where are Mr P. Goo and your brother? The one with the big feet?

Steve; kilts and "drum thrones" just don't work. From the experience of this "Old Geezer" bell bottoms don't work either, (methinks I just gave my age away).

I am currently working on bringing "Bigfoot" (AKA Littlehand); I was attempting to trade him to "Mojo", but the negotiations stalled in committee.(Mom said NO!)

It is my understanding that Mr.Goo is currently on a secret undercover assignment, and not readily available. However! I have no doubt that he will surface soon.

OK Got to go, the voices in my head want to nap. See you soon!

I often envision Mr. Goo foiling Bond villeins.

Hopefully he will emerge with his riffs still intact.

Round 3 of picks of song parts is now OPEN!!!

We have a cap in place of 10 picks per part (10 vocals, 10 guitar, etc.) for each participant. That's to let the slowpokes get a few of the popular parts. This limit will be removed in the next couple of days.

Thanks for participating! Time to hit the woodshed (for me, anyway).
