My Brothers & Sisters of the March on DC

Mr "Tiller2" has presented an interesting question in regards, to doing a Leon Russell song.

As one of the Senior members of the "Geezers", I would like to suggest a song from 1971, that Leon did at the Concert for Bangladesh.It is a live version of a Medley of Jumpin' Jack Flash & Young Blood. (Sorry, I don't have the computer skills to create a link.)

My own opinion, judging from the pool of talent at the last DC jam, this song is doable. Lets see how it does on the List of Love in voting.

OK The voices in my head want to go back into hibernation! See you all soon.

Here is the link to Grizbear's suggestion....lots of no music with vocals only...but a great jam.

Maybe we can shorten the vocal vamping between songs to get this almost 8 min song down to something more manageable?

Three non-FDP DC folks from last year have re-upped.

Kim - so we can consider songs for a big, soulful female vox.

Dean, the drummer, who can share the throne with the Griz.

Paul, who played conga drums; maybe we can try something Latin.

ok I know its the Holiday time of year and thoughts are not jam-centric BUT I need to get a good head count and a good amount of song suggestions to get a List of Love going. It takes some time to do all the back-end wizardry required for these things ;)

I have 60 songs already so if you have suggested some dont feel the need to suggest more unless you really feel that they are a great fit for us. I would like to get more than the small circle of people I already have who have made suggestions. So if you think you are going and have not suggested any tunes then email me! Or you risk not getting songs you really want to play on the final list

Mappy (that's Merry and Happy) ChrismaHaniKwanziFestika (thats Christmas, Hanukka, Kwanzaa and Festivus all rolled into one)

and for the Pagan Romans out there Happy Saturnalia (winter Solstice)

"maybe we can try something Latin"

I used to do a Santana medley of Evil Ways/Black Magic Woman/Oye Coma Va that we used to call the Latino Mix. It flowed pretty well and was very well received.

Also did Smooth (Santana with Rob Thomas) with the horn section on keys (in case we can get a horn section for this jam)

My Brethren; Just checking in from the "Cave".

"G", I like where this song list is headed!

Being a drummer/percussionist; I love the idea of "Smooth". If we get the same crew of drummers from the last DC Jam, we can do this song (percussion wise) with no problem.

To quote my brother "Littlehand" (AKA Bigfoot): "Chickie has more percussion gear than Santana", What he forgot to mention was that I can play them "ALL", so bring it on. (Pre-Jam lessons will be available to all who desire!)

OK; the "voices" are calling me, I have to get back to the cave now! See you all soon.

I will suggest an old school 80s tune by the Hooters because who doesnt love Hooters?!?!

I will play my "hooter" (slang for melodica) and hope Peegoo will once again bring his mando out for this one.

@ Steve Carlo;

You do realize that you just opened the door for a whole series of "Deliverance" jokes!!

The way this is going, they are going to write themselves.

I'll put the voices in my head to work, brain storming on the topic; results to be published soon.

let the record show that
(1) there were no kilts in Deliverance. Just trousers and overalls.
(2) there was no Ned abuse in Braveheart... just the wholesome slaughtering of Englishmen and the bedding of comely women by manly, kilt wearing manly...men

and that (3) Gman, a known trouser wearer, first breached the topic of banjo and mando.

methinks he doth protest too much and his professed admiration for his "hooter" is just an excuse to put something in his mouth,

his real pretty mouth

Guys, I should know just after New Years if I can make it down. Working out a couple things at work and planning a hunting trip all around that same window. Don't want to commit until I'm sure.
