WOW! Very cool!

I have two of their rekkids on my iPod.

Note: don't use any reverb on the drums. That's only for guitar :o)

Very cool! I'm not up on modern surf, just an old-school Ventures fan, but it sounds like a lot of fun.

Jack, I was but had some issues with a member or two. Nothing serious but some mean spirited stuff happened.

I know what you mean. Sometimes that forum feels like a locals only surf brake. Just as you get outside you start hearing stuff from other surfers that you are not welcome.

Well, we are through a few rehearsals now and things are going very well. Not sure if our rhythm player is going to hang but the band is quite good as a trio.

Interesting thing last time together. I asked to play our "leaders" guitar after we were done for the evening. He said yes. I played some "Lonely Bull" and he has offered to play a bit of drums so we can switch. This is getting better all the time. Could be the best of both worlds.

We may do a showcase in mid December. If it comes together I'll post.

I don't recall ever seeing a rhythm guitarist with them, but that band is one of my faves!

(still haven't put that clue together with a band)

Huh, I never would have labelled them as a surf band.

Saw them at the Orpheum Theatre in Boston in the early 80's. It was Halloween. Great show.

However, there might have been psychedelics involved.... ;^)

Saw them around 1976 in the SF Bay area. Took a date not knowing what to expect. Wow, didn't know you could do that stuff on a concert stage. I apologized to my date, but she just laughed and said it was different and it was OK. We joked about it for months after.

Much more local to SoCal guys. The band has done some touring, Europe etc. We don't plan long distance this time around.

Ok gents the cat is coming out of the bag so to speak. I joined The Surf Kings and our "coming out" party is Saturday the 21st.

I'm having my annual jam party that day and we will paly a set. Mostly songs from the 1st two CDs with a couple of new originals, Party Crasher and Haji Baba.

We will play a couple of trad surf tune too.
Any SoCal folks want to stop by the jam see my 2017 thread in the "Jams" section.

Sounds like it'll be a fun group. I haven't played any of that style music since the early 70s.

I really enjoy playing with Tom Stanton. Amazing skills with the Strat surf style.
