FDP Forum / The 'Pup' Tent / Fender American Standard Tele Twin Head Vintage Humbuckers to bright

I have an American Standard Tele HH the Twin Head Vintage Humbucker pickups are very very bright I talked to Fender he noted that is their character The volume is a 500K pot the tone 250. Would changing the volume to 250 help tame these pickups?

A 250K pot would dull them down somewhat, but so would the tone control on your guitar or the EQ controls on your amp.

rather funny because most of the gripe's against humbuckers is they aren't bright enough....

Its a bright guitar to begin with with the alder body I have played with the tone & EQ's but still to bright. Have since done more research regarding humbuckers and an alder body and narrowing down whats available, thanks!

If you end up trying a new pup, or two, you might look into something with alnico 2 magnets. The Twin Heads use alnico 5.

I'm in the same boat myself. I have a Carvin "Tele" HSS. It has alder body sides, but I ordered it built with a neck-through mahogany center, in attempt to avoid just this issue. No luck--the bridge HB has always been shrill and lacks thickness. It also has 500K pots.
