The pawnshop had it up on the rack at the very end and was almost hidden. I couldn't believe the asking price of $350 when I brought it down from the rack.

I looked at the headstock and saw it was a 1990 made in the USA strat, and knew right away it was a Strat plus because of the Wilkinson locking tuners and roller nut. I also noticed that it did not have the original Lace Sensor pickups that originally came on the guitar.

The guitar had a bunch of stupid looking plastic chrome skulls all over the top of the guitar.

So the skulls, coupled with the non original pickups, dings, scratches, rust , dirtiness and no guitar case, gave me some haggling ammo.

I knew even at $350 it was a deal, but after haggling, I took it home for less than that out the door.

The quick audition revealed quality pickups and should do the guitar justice once it's been cleaned and set up properly.

Nice! For that price I'd buy it even though I don't need another Strat.

Thanks Viera. That's the same reason I bought it.

I've already got 7 Fender Strats, but at the price I got it for, I was not going to pass it up.

It is a very different animal from all my other strats, so that's another reason.

NO guitar passes on a killer deal on a quality guitar.

Killer deal, Congrats! Those are great guitars. Love the color, Sherwood green?

I haven't found a quality American instrument at a deal price in years.

Thanks guys.

H101, the color is actually Pewter, but in the right light it can look like Sherwood.

Malcom, it's been robbed of its complete pickup setup.
The original pickups were Gold Lace Sensors with the TBX boost on board.

I just got it back today and my guitar tech said the previous owner loaded it with Fender Squire pickups in the neck and middle and a no namer HB in the bridge.

I thought I was going to be super disappointed in the single coils, but the actually sound really good through may amp.

I compared those pickups to my '10 Fender Am. Standard loaded with Fender Custom Shop Fat 50's, and the Squire pickups sound better.

It's hard to believe but they do.

I'm still interested in getting some good warm sounding set of replacement single coil pickups for it.

I can live with the neck and middle for now,but the bridge it just nasty.

Oh well, 2 out of 3 ain't bad.
