I don't play classical/nylon string very much, but I love sound for Bossa Nova stuff. I notice that nylon string sets are marked for light, medium, and high tension.
What are the resaons that I would choose one of these gauges?

Pretty much the same as selecting acoustic steel string gauges. Higher tension strings will have a stiffer feel under both the left and right hand, produce a little more volume, and be less prone to string buzz for a given attack.

Depending on your guitar's setup as well you might see some action variance but it will probably be slight. Hard tension puts you closer to steel string tension so switching from one guitar to another won't be so drastic as far as playing feel.
