When I sin

Don't think they can do much to jump the price up realistically - as it stands, current Fender pricing is a bit insane compared to Gibson.

I was able to buy a *not* entry level LP Studio for the price of the baseline "cheap" MIA Jaguar.

Similarly, the Strats aren't that value-priced at this point for the MIA product.

Yeah, when I got mine, there was just "Stratocaster" and they were all made in the US. You had your choice of tremolo or not, maple or rosewood fretboard, and a few color options. Life was simpler then. ;-)

"Can't imagine they would do all those other upgrades at the risk of endangering the entry-level price for their American made guitars. Tweaks, sure. Major product enhancement. Doubtful, as that would jeopardize the other more expensive models' appeal"

I agree with that stratcowboy.

I'm only listing some things they may change in features with the new models. I doubt they would change all the things I listed because it would drive the price up. But you can be sure there will be changes. I like the compound radius necks. That would be a nice improvement. Better string bending capabilities.

Only time will tell and that will be soon.

I asked a Dealer today and they confirmed that the American Standard as we know it is being discontinued and that is the reason for the lower prices we have been seeing for these recently. They didn't get into what it's being replaced with so maybe they don't know either or just can't say.

That's it! The end. The Stratocaster has had its run and Fender is giving up on it. Better hustle into those shops 'cause they ain't gonna make this guitar anymore. They're throwing all their manufacturing weight and marketing savvy into the Jackson line.

Asked about this decision, FMIC CEO Andrew P. Mooney said "We figure everyone who wants a Fender guitar already has one, so making more would be kind of pointless."

Figures he would say something like that. After all, what does Nike and Disney have to do with knowing and marketing the Best Guitars.

You sure you don't maybe want to rephrase that?

Yay, Dinkys are the future. (mb leaves town)..

Seriously though, FMIC seems to have reached a fork in the road and hitched their wagon to the Jackson, Charvel and the more recent EVH brands.

$200.00 (15%) off and 12 payments no interest. I tried to resist, but finally gave in. American Standard Strat, three color sunburst, rosewood. On its way. :)

I got my 1982 '62AMVRI Strat, bought it new 34 years ago. Great Strat, made in Fullerton, don't need no other.

Is the American Standard the only Strat that is being discontinued?

I don't know what's going on with the AmStandard,
but I see they're not available in Black or Oly White these days (except a Black HSS). Just Wine or Sunburst. That in itself seems very wrong to me...

The choices are getting less and less as the days go by. Remaining stock is being sold and the current "American Standard", as we know it, is being discontinued. It will be interesting to see what they call its replacement.

I think this is a move towards promoting the idea that non USA Fender instruments are of equal quality.

Interesting. Perhaps the MIM Standard will be the only Standard Stratocaster? Time will tell.

Yep, I'm OLD too. When I bought my first strat in '63, I don't recall there being much of a choice (if at all). Mine was a 3-color sunburst.
