I visited the San Marcos G/C today while the Mrs is attending an embroidery class. Anyway, I played a nylon string Godin mentioned in the thread title and I absolutely loved it. They had only one acoustic amp in the room and it was a Marshall. The guitar sounded full, rich, and true to the nylon acoustic tone.

My question is how critical is it to play it through a dedicated acoustic amp? I have a Carr Mercury and a Fender Mustang 1. Can those amps provide the same rich tones that I got playing it through the Marshall?

Thanks

Awesome, let's talk embroidery.

Button hole or cross-stitch?

Just kidding, I've played the Multiac Nylon even started a thread about it) but I am not educated about acoustic amps. Sorry.

Not exactly sure, but I think that guitar would sound better through an acoustic amp.

And as far as acoustic amps go, you can do a lot better than that Marshall. Look around for a used Genz Benz, they go pretty cheap these days are are really excellent amps. Assuming you buy the guitar, that is.

I play mine through a Bose compact most of the time or straight into a mixer. It seems to sound better when it's amped through something that doesn't color the sound. They are nice instruments that's for sure. The synth access tracks better than most if you are into that. All I can say is try what you have first before worrying about an amp for it. You may find that you don't need a specific type of amp for it.
