Welp, I took it back. (GC has a 45-day return on its used gear, although I had to pay the $18 shipping.)

It was a cool and well-built guitar, but I knew I'd never fall in love with it due to the neck. The gloss finish was too thick for me, and the neck itself was just a bit too slender.

I ran across the river the other day to Lidgett Music, and played a few new Eastmans, and found a couple of models, the "E" (for "Traditional") series, that have a chunky neck and a satin (or maybe semigloss) finish that I liked a lot. But they didn't have the model I wanted.

However, I found exactly what I was looking for on Reverb. Sent a message to the seller, who seemed like a good guy, and the price was excellent, so I bought it. It's a 2016 E6OM, a traditional sitka/mahogany orchestra model.

Should have it early next week, will report back.

Yeah, they were probably dancing around the manager's office at GC when I accidentally bought those. "Yay, we sold a set of those Polys from 1992!!! Haha!

They actually sounded quite good though. But then I like Elixirs. Some don't.

Not to beat this Eastman thing to death, but the 2016 E6OM arrived yesterday.

I'm used to receiving dirty old guitars, so it was nice to get a nice clean newer one for once. Near perfect condition, original strings. Not flashy, very traditional sitka/hog look.

I played it for a couple hours, and was amazed at the tone and playibility. Perfect setup, and I like the short scale. Tone is punchy and woody, quite loud. This is a lot of guitar for $495. Nice case too.

I'm having a Holter pickguard made, the teardrop style. Will put that on when it gets here, along with a set of Elixir lights.

What SandBagger said - nice looking guitar. A pickguard will definitely complete the picture!

Is your mahogany as nice as what's on the back of the one in the website pic?

Assuming that the E6OM is in near new condition with a good setup, you got a very nice guitar for the $. Please report back once you've had a chance to play it some.

It is, mikey. All the Eastman mahogany I've seen, and I've seen 10-12 guitars lately, has that nice shimmer to it.
