I hope it's ok. i think it's made in China and that has me worried now. If it's not right, I'm sending it back and I'll try something else.

I've liked every Takamine I have ever picked up. I don't know why I don't own one.

I hope this one is a good one, at least it's the upper end G series. Some say that's a good thing, I'll know when i get it. Biggest complaint I've seen about this model is the action is a little too high, but the neck is supposed to be good.

I can fix the action. Pre amp is not like the pro series, but i really don't need it to be.

I just hope it's a good one when it gets here.

Ok. It hasn't even arrived yet, but i already want to send it back. I think it would be best for me to get the Taylor 210e Deluxe instead.

The made in china thing is really bothering me and i think the Taylor would be much better for me.

I'm pretty sure the Taylor's come with 13s on them and they don't recommend changing string gauges, but i would really like to put 11s on it. Anyone have a Taylor and dropped to 11s?

Any thoughts?

MIC most likely won't be an isssue because Takamine has built a solid reputation for very good QC.

+1

Check out some of the youtube videos of guitars made in China.

There is one in particular that is a demo of a MIC Martin D42. Quality stuff!

Just type Martin D42 Demo and watch. Like seeing/hearing the real deal.... at a third of the cost.

Many Chinese made guitars (these days) are very nice--and oft-times not all that cheap either. Whether it's Takamine, Guild, Yamaha, etc., some of those guitars are serious instruments with excellent quality of manufacture as well.

My Blueridge is a well-made Chinese instrument as well. I won't make any claims about how it compares to guitars made here or elsewhere ('cause I really don't care), but every other player I hand it to falls in love with it, as did I.

Which is one of the reasons why I really like the Canadian made Seagull guitars, the SWS (solid wood series) series especially. They're priced right to compete with the high-end MIC guitars, and in some cases they're actually less expensive (some times the name on the headstock means premium prices even with MIC guitars). And Godin the parent company also has some of their electric guitars assembled in the USA.

One of the "lesser known" brands is Alvarez. I don't think there was a drop in QC when SLM/Loud Technologies moved production to China.

I wouldn't worry about the Takamine. I've played many G series guitars and they look and sound just great. Workmanship is top notch.

In some cases I have liked the G series guitars better than some of the MIJ models.

Well it came a couple hours ago, it sounds decent, but i was hoping for a little better quality. It has two bad looking spots on the wood under the gloss and the electronics seem a bit cheap.

Guess I'm going to send it back and get the Taylor.

Hate to sound picky, but this will probably be the last acoustic I'll ever buy and really want it to be a little better quality.

Thanks for all your input everyone.

Much appreciated.

For almost twice the money you should get better quality.
