I'm leaning towards the CP50s, I like the V neck and 9.5 radius on my Baja Tele and want the Strat to be the same.

Kinda wanted the CS 69 pups though, but they come on the CP60s. The CP 50s comes with American Vintage Strat Single-Coil Alnico 5 Pickups, does anyone here that have played those like or dislike them?

Just trying to get some opinions on the guitar, I'm sure it's quality like the Baja was.

Ok, any thoughts on the American made standard with the fat 50s? Are they worth the $500 more than the cost of the Classic player MIMs?

I like the maple neck 50's versions myself.

The American made Standard with Fat 50's are also fine guitars. Again though I prefer the maple neck versions.

Thanks for your input telegib. I'm trying to justify the extra $500 for just a couch player, but i want it lol!

It may sound nicer to the Wife and the Dog than the CP. :)

I have the Classic Player 60s because I like the neck, but didn't like the pups. I changed the pups to noiseless when I changed the pic guard to white pearloid. So, my advice is to buy the guitar with the neck you like the best and change the pups out later. Hope this helps.

If you can find a used one, Fender put out a special edition of the CP 50s Strat in 2012. Came with a black G and G case, nitro finish, and the 4th position had the neck and middle. Pups wired in parallel for a thicker sound. Ca me in 2 tone burst only. Only made about 327 or something like that, so they are a pretty rare beast. Highly recommended.k

"Ok, any thoughts on the American made standard with the fat 50s? Are they worth the $500 more than the cost of the Classic player MIMs?"

I'm an American Standard tragic without a doubt. To me personally the Fat '50s AmStd is well worth the extra cash compared to the Classic Players. I like the rolled neck edges, tilt neck adjust, no-load tone pot, staggered tuners and the attention to detail. Is this really worth $500 more than a CP? Probably in reality only worth about $150 extra at the most.

Also, the necks on the AmStds are a modern C which definitely feel different from a V. It's up to you to decide if this is suitable for you,

The Classic Players are generally fine instruments with a high attention to detail but it's up to you to decide if you are willing to pay more for a few refinements (if I didn't already have a bunch of Strats Id love to own one).

Could you explain that? I'm confused...

The neck feel for many is critical!

I like the neck on the cp 50 Strat, love the soft V!

I love 'em, can't get enough of 'em. The Bees Knees of Stratocasters. My life is not complete without them. The most common type of guitar in my collection. Still confused?

I understand the sentiment. Just don't understand the sentence. "Tragic?" Is that a down-under phrase?

Perhaps he's tragically addicted. FWIW the American Standards are discontinued and are on sale now. For a long time I was an AVRI snob, but finding a couple of the right American Standards fixed that up real quick-like.

No, not at all. The context I used it in is very common. As BrentD stated: "tragically addicted". So true.

I'd like to find a Tele with the soft "V" backside that came on the MIM Classic 50's Strat.

Did they make such a thing?

Have you tried a Jimmie Vaughan strat? It comes with the soft V neck.
