Ryder, Gibson has always made buying dog-ear pickups difficult.
Here's a dead simple work-around: buy a standard Gibson P90 soapbar and get a separate dogear cover. Place a bit of foam under the the pickup slap the dogear cover on, and you're rockin'.

Well, that's more difficult, because there's no wood beneath the pickup. You need the little flange on each end to suspend the baseplate in the pickup's rout.
If you cannot find new units, then 2nd hand is the way to go (fleabay, reverb, etc.).
Failing that, Duncan, Lollar, and several others make dog ear P90s that are quite faithful to the original.
If you're adventurous and you have some Gibson soapbar P90s you'd like to convert, you can easily swap baseplates. See link.

You know, I'm not going to name names or drop names but I have been hearing murmurs. Words like knighthood are being bandied about.

You're very kind, but the only dragons I enjoy slaying take the form of a plateload of meat and pertaters and gravy, with *maybe* some green veggies if I'm feeling froggy :o)
Cheers, brothers.

Ok, a dumb question maybe.
Are all Gibson P90s the same, as in, in the 330, the melody maker, les paul, jr.?
For instance, is a P90 from a jr. solid body wound differently than a P90 for a hollow body?

They can vary as to output. My 330 has low output pups that read around 6.5 but I have a Special that reads at about 8.1.

Yeah, they do vary. I've seen 'em from 6K to 9.5K, and they're all the same model. They tend to average somewhere in the 8.2K range.
