Ordered one from GC. Should be at the store on Wednesday according to the tracking number they sent me. Can't wait!

Completely stock the PRRI is a great amp.

"Completely stock the PRRI is a great amp."

I've been pondering a new amp for a while. In my research, I've only heard good things about the Princeton. I considered a Deluxe Reverb, but realistically, it's a bit more amp than I need. I really only play for my own enjoyment at home.

A great thing about PRRI's is that they have an external speaker jack. I frequently play my PRRI through a 1x12 Carvin cab with a Celestion Vintage 30, more often than not in tandem with PRRI Jensen speaker. To my ears it sounds great. Maybe try yours with the BJ as a cab. Either way enjoy it.

Just want to chime in on the power tube thing - I have a 2001 Blues Jr with the Billm tone stack and power supply stiffening mods, plus a Texas Heat speaker. Sounds great, very punchy, but not everyone's cup of tea. It's my backup amp now, since I got a Goodsell Super 17 Mk3 a few years ago.

They are both EL84 amps, but they don't sound anything alike -- the Goodsell has a huge 3D sound -- anything but boxy. Some people say it sounds like it has 6V6s, but to me it has its own sound. It isn't just the tubes, its the amp design.

BTW, the other guitarist in the band has a silverface Princeton - an amazing amp -- huge, full tone with tons of low end from the 10" speaker, yet it still cuts through the mix.

I like my BJ and dig the vibe of the amp. Good amp. Don't use it much, but it's a cool amp that I don't suspect I'll ever part with.

But one of the best sounding amps I've ever heard was my pal's mid 60's blackface Princeton Reverb amp. I have no words for how good that amp sounded.

Not sure how close the new PRRI's sound to the original Princeton Reverb amps, but if they're even in the ballpark, they must sound good.
