I've come to realize that I definitely hit more clams when the guitar has a 1 3/4" nut. While online surveys show that over 80% of guitar players prefer 1 3/4" over 1 11/16", I'm clearly in the 20% class.

SO... I've sold off all of my 1 3/4" nut guitars except for one (a 2011 Collings D2HA for sale on my local CL) and freed up some cash for new guitars with 1 11/16".

First of these is this gorgeous Collings D-3 Custom that I bought at Gryphon Stringed Instruments in Palo Alto, CA. Gryphon is my all-time fav guitar store and I've been dealing with them for 40yrs now.

This D-3 has a German Spruce top, Cocobolo back and sides, and solid black ebony fretboard and headstock veneer. The yellow sapwood stripe in the back is just spectacular (Cocobolo is harvested just for the heartwood. This kind of sapwood delineation is exactly how it occurs in the tree) !!!

I had Gryphon install a K&K Pure Mini pickup and the guitar sounds incredible both plugged and unplugged. It lives in a Hiscox Pro II case.

Awesome guitar. That back is stunning. I played one once, a Collings, and fell in love. Congrats!

Me like. Very beautiful back. Too bad it has a 1 11/16" nut. :-)
