I got a Kirkland Costco leather belt. Brown with white stitching. More of a jeans belt than a dress belt. Nice leather. I wear it nearly every day and it has held up very well so far. About 2 year old now.

Ordered a Mission Belt, via FDP Amazon link, on my last day before Prime expires. Will post my thoughts when it arrives.

Charlie Macon, Thanks for that! Gates all the way! I have bought the leather weave belts so I can adjust daily, but they crack leaving a bunch of frayed crap. I might go back to my Military belt!

MFitz, I hope you enjoy it! :-)

RKStrat, even though my two leather belts have a "synthetic coating" (cough, cough, pleather, cough), they've held up remarkably well with no cracking or peeling. There are other brands of micro-adjustment belts that use top grain and full grain leather, but they're more costly, and, more importantly (in my opinion), don't look as good. SlideBelt (linked below) has a full grain leather belt for $85, but the browns all have a hokey, faux-patina, burnished fade that's been sprayed on. I think it looks cheap, and doesn't match the finish of the shoes I own.

It looks like SlideBelt offers top grain leather belts with much better looking finishes, as well as regular, "genuine leather" models, but the color selection is similarly poor.

"MFitz, I hope you enjoy it!"

Thanks! Just so happens I need a couple new belts. I'll try this one and then maybe go for a brown leather one next.

When I started this thread, I mentioned:

"On the other hand, I don't want to spend $50 on a belt."

But bring it on! Nice stuff!

I do the made up blank and fit them to the customer, usually around $50 if I don't add a buckle.

Tandy has decent blanks too, and are usually happy to help you finish it off.

Once you got the belt down, guitar straps are a breeze. Depending on the level of custom tooling they can go for decent money.

I gotta do some more Irma prep. Later.

Found a nice belt at Nordstrom Rack!

Just what I was looking for, a nice casual belt.

From Will Leather Goods. Marked down from $70 to $50 t0 $20!

Of course I went to the Nordstrom Rack some miles away, as they have the best selection. Spent probably $15 on tolls and gas to get there :-).

Sorry that I just saw this thread. I've been a Jos A Bank customer for more than 30 years, and when I daily wore a suit or sport coat for business, they were my absolute retailer of choice (before their bizarre sales strategy and acquisition by Men's Wearhouse. BUT...to the point of this thread, they're having their leather belts for $39 as their "Deal of tha Day" today.

Sorry for the late notice, but it's hard to beat their quality.

I got my Mission Belt, and it's really nice! Going to wear it a while and see how it holds up, but I see another belt or two in my future.

Thanks again, dudesweet!

How are the Mission belts working out for y'all?

I wear a Wilderness Instructor's belt every day with jeans, but I'm getting hitched next month and need a nicer belt to wear with slacks and a jacket. (Not wearing a full blown suit.) My current slacks belt is the wrong color and is looking a little worn anyways.

I'm liking what I see from Mission.

I'm wearing the same leather belt for 15 years now, it's a German army belt, heavy harness leather. I wear it with a brass buckle from the Weimar republic and I also have a West German buckle or 2, I wear a different one as the mood strikes me. I bought it at a gun show, it was about $40 with the buckle and it's been an excellent investment.

The gray canvas one I have is great. Going to buy a brown leather one too.

EDIT: screw "going to", I just ordered it (Amazon via FDP link).

Received my light brown leather Mission Belt today. Looks great, feels great, black leather will be next.

Love these belts, it’s no wonder the Eagles referenced them in Hotel California.

Mfitz, I need to pick up a light brown leather one, but I've been putting it off because I'm not sure whether their "tan" or their "light brown" more closely matches the shoes they're to match.

Dudesweet: I don’t know about your shoes, but I can say the color of the light brown is well represented in their photographs.

I just noticed this on the website. Now I get what Mission means.
I thought they were military belts :-).

"When you buy a Mission Belt you become a part of a great philanthropic effort - or as we like to call it, THE MISSION. Here at MISSION BELT, we don't just want you to look good - we want you to feel good too. That's why a dollar from every belt goes to fight hunger and poverty worldwide through micro-lending."

Mission Belt #3, black leather, has arrived. I can now throw out my beaten up old black belt, which I happen to be wearing, and just go with this one.

As I believe I now have three belts that will cover all of my needs, my Mission is complete.

All 3 purchased through the FDP Amazon link, too.

My brown leather one has broken in quite nicely after only two wears, very soft and buttery despite the coating they say it has.
