Full grain leather only. All the rest is cheap chinese crap made of bonded leather that will crack after you start wearing them.

If you like rugged and well-made leather belts, Carhart brand is pretty decent.

The last belts I bought were from Costco, one brown one black. That was nearly a year ago and they are holding up very well. 100% leather real nice stitching. I should have bought two of each color.

If just want casual AND you want something with a "guitar-friendly" buckle...

Try Bison Designs. I just ordered 3 from them.
They have nylon webbing (lots of patterns or solid colours) and have a range of *nylon* buckle styles that won't scratch the hell out the back of your favourite guitar!

I have one (different brand) that I've owned for 25 years and just love it. It finally starting to get a bit frayed in spots (and... ahem... need a little more length now) so I ordered up a new ensemble.

Again, not something you'd wear with a suit, but for everyday or on stage, they're great.

Oh, they do offer "fancier" models with metal buckles and some with very "utilitarian" designs, but my 1st preference was the "non-scratch" kind.

need a wrench, bottle opener, survival knife buckle?

Galco gun belts. They'll last for years if you're not hanging a holster om 'em.

Ive been using a 1" reversible belt made with brown and black leather and a gold buckle stamped USA along with a tiny W ( Wilson)? stamp. Seems like it'll last forever. Must have came from a dep. store like J.C. Penney.

Take a look. (There are several that don't really look "Western.")

The best belt I've found for everyday use is the LLBean chino belt.

Not cheap but they last forever

Yet again, another timely thread on the FDP.

I just bought a Timberland brown leather belt at a local department store - $20. Just solid leather with simple buckle - just what I wanted.

I too tired of the "leather outer - crap inner" junk.

...and by the way, I think the boss might be a "fancy boy".

Ha! You guys are funny!

Well, I got rid of my salmon colored Bermuda shorts years ago.
A blue crab belt would have looked good with those shorts.

Okay no more picking on the boss! I appreciated his suggestion.

I'm with mfitz when it comes to reversible belts. I have had two, both lasting less than a week before falling apart.

Bought a black one and a brown one last week, both from the Dollar General. So far, so good. Lasted longer than the reversible ones.

As I mentioned, I am looking for a thin 1 inch belt with a low profile buckle. I am sifting through all of the links you guys provided!

Similar to the stories here, the belt I am wearing is about 20 years old and still looks great. All it says is "Split Cowhide On Plush Cowhide", "Made In Italy"....and "34/65" (my pant waste size is 32). The lettering is still pristine! Also the belt has a curve to it. Hmmmm...."Plush" with a curve...sounds....."Fancy" :-).
