For me, color is secondary.
Tone is numba one. But in this case, you cannot audition 'em.
Going on the info you have--bigger necks = better tone (generally), and neck size matters to some players.
I happen to like fat necks, so you know which one I'd try.

I agree with the tone part. That being said I am a sucker for 50s era specs. I have a 59 Journeyman Relic and love that guitar. The rilicing job is probably the best and the most realistic I have seen coming out of the custom shop.
Maple with a 2 tone sunburst ash body and that nice 50s sound , sounds mighty tasty to me.

You guys "down-under" do have challenges pretty regularly as regards access to the goods. So being there is no possibility of playing these in person, and probably difficult to return...this is a tough situation.
Personally...large C.

Sage advice from Mr Peegoo,
"For me, color is secondary." totally agree
but in my circumstances colour does play a small part because since I cant readily play anything so what pips my interest first is colour.
I own several coloured guitars from sunburst to black to white to Cadillac green a gold top off the beat shell pink and even Candy Apple red!
If they were a bowling ball strat or splatter casters i'd skim straight over them.
"You guys "down-under" do have challenges pretty regularly as regards access to the goods"
Stratcowboy I also left out in the original post that im a lefty so its ten times harder
I was always leaning toward the 55 strat for several reason
1st,
I don't own a strat that is ash and maple
2nd the large C has got me interested.
3,its lightweight and yes I know weight don't mean squat. but it would be nice to swing a lightweight guitar about.
4. odds are if I wanted a Olympic white strat down the track i'm more likely to find one
5. Its a strat

If there's a generous return policy, what are you waiting for?

I've been bad, I've had it a month already, and I want another
I'm seriously looking at getting either the 52 tele in journeyman same neck specs and nocaster pups.
Or a white 60's strat they've got in stock either way i'm clearing some excess guitars that I don't play and some fishing gear I don't use so most likely will have it by xmas
They've also got a 55 in sonic blue that looks super sexy too.

LeftRightOut, congratulations on your new Strat. As for me, I'm not a fan of relics. I bought this CS NOS '61 back in May of '08. I followed up with a CS NOS '62 Tele Custom two years later.

"As for me, I'm not a fan of relics."
Hey Tex, I have to agree there, the finger wear on my guitar just looks fake especially up close.
But the body wear looks pretty normal and not over done, while there is absolutely no wear on the back of the neck which looks a bit weird compared to everything else
either way I can live with it. if the sonic blue guitar was on there website and available when I bought my sunburst I probably would have went the sonic (it is NOS).
But since I live in Aus and the guitar was in the UK beggars cant be choosers
BTW They've sold the tele, it lasted 2 weeks.

The older I get, the lighter I like my guitars. Mild reliving is nice.
