Last year I bought a NOS AVRI 57 strat in surf green. I love the color and previously bought a Daphne Blue 59 Custom shop . I was prepared to not like the neck radius and send it back, but I took a gamble. I got it and it is the best uitar I have ever owned. It killed my guitar gas big time. Its light as a feather, build quality is amazing and the neck is the most comfortable neck I have ever played on.
Its too bad they discontinued these , but if mine is any example they are killer guitars. It took me some time to warm up to the 57/62s , but I love them now. Even the small frets are no problem at all and I love 6105s to death.

I almost pulled the trigger on a AVRI 57 Strat several times. They're great (said in best Tony the Tiger voice).

I LOVE AVRI Strats and have two in my current stash! May be adding a third soon!

I've owned an AVRI '62 for the past 20 years and really dig it. Was kind of sad to see the AVRI line get discontinued.

RGD, I agree. I know most guitar stores I went to never had them in stock. The only thing they had was the MIM Classic 50s. They were decent guitars , but I was always put off by the sharpness of the fretboards of all the ones I tried. I attributed it to the vintage radius . So as one day I was on the lookout for a surf green strat ( I dig 50s era vibes in strats), I came across one at Willcutts and it was NOS. I looked at what they were selling for used and figured it was worth the risk. It has one of the most comfortable necks I have ever played.Just an amazing guitar. Havent bought or wanted to buy another one since.
Amps , now thats a whole other matter entirely!

I very nearly bought a Mary Kaye version in Santa Monica once. Beautiful guitar and ticked so many boxes for me, but the holiday budget didn't quite stretch.

Budg, the difference was probably rolled edges on the neck. IMHO the single biggest reason to go for AVRI/Am Std over Mex.

Vomer I am sure you are right about the rolled edges on the necks. What a huge difference it makes in comfort. My first experience with the AVRI was the 59 thinskin my wife bought me . Its an ash body with a white blonde finish. Not exactly a Mary Kaye , but close enough for me.I do see the AVRI thin skins are back in their more up to date form.
