I should stay off Reverb, but I enjoy looking at gear and have purchased some really nice gear from dealers on that site.

I came across a 1998 Deluxe Series Double Fat Strat with Floyd Rose in olympic white and just had to buy it. I used to own one of these in black and totally regret selling it. While this guitar looks more suited for heavy rock, its actually very versatile. The humbuckers are low output and sound good in the single coil positions on the 5-way.

Note - I can't do Hendrix and Jeff Beck whammy damage without a Floyd. I just can't hack the tuning issues on regular Strats, including my 1991 Jeff Beck Strat.

Strat No. 8

You can easily make a 5Strats look like an 8Strats.

Sharp looking axe. Congrats & report back when you get it.

Well, if you're going to have 8 Strats at least 1 must be a double fat Strat. Nice choice.

These are awesome. It's not a Standard, it's a Deluxe Double Fat with the Floyd. I have one (a 2003) with the regular trem and it's a cool guitar. Congrats!

BrentD - I know dealer's description is incorrect. It even says Deluxe Series on the headstock and Fender never made "standard" Strats with large headstocks.

I hear you 5strats. I was real strat heavy until I sold of 3 last year.

Here are 6 of mine. I forgot that I had a '90 MIJ Fender black strat, and didn't include it in the pic.

That's pretty sad when you don't remember how many strats you have.

Great photo and nice looking group of Strats. I can't imagine even wanting 8 of any other type of guitar, just Strats.

What is it with them anyway that makes them so addictive? Oh right, they look super cool and play fantastic, if set up right. They're very versatile too, particularly with a humbucker in the bridge.

Last night one of my son's friends came over and had been wanting to see and play most of my electric guitars

I pulled out all my primo guitars so he could put them through their paces.

When it was all said and done, it was my '75 Mocha strat that tonally slayed them all.

I personally heard how alive a dynamic the '75 sounded compared to all the other guitars in my collection.

The guitar that came in 2nd was my '09 PRS DGT and 3rd was my '70 Gibson 335.

The DGT and 335 did sound good but not as alive and dynamic as the '75 Mocha.

We also pitted the '75 against all my other Strats, and their was no comparison.

The guy now wants to buy the guitar from me.

After hearing how amazing it sounded compared to all my other guitars, I can't see myself letting go of it.

That's usually how GAS starts: some player you know has a guitar that is just a monster tone stick, and you get a chance to play it.

And the quest begins!

Nice looking guitar! I had a Kramer Focus back in the day that looked very much like that.
I could get some "cool" 80's tones out of that thing - I imagine you can do the same.

This model of Strat is more versatile that it appears. The Floyd Rose feels like a standard Strat trem, allowing you to do more subtle things.

The humbuckers are low output too.
