FDP Forum / The 'Pup' Tent / Novice Question about Stew Mac P Bass Wiring Kit

I'm working on my first project p bass and wanted to upgrade my potentiometers. I understand (mostly) the diagram linked below but am unsure about a few details.

The wire coming from the Volume lug 2 wonders off to lower part of the diagram. I'm not sure what this means- is it a sort of ground? Or is this a solder point at the output jack?

Any pointers would greatly be appreciated. Please excuse if this is a super easy- this will be my first major mod done on my own.

That wire goes to the "hot" lug of the jack, the one that comes off the springy prong that contacts the tip of the plug on the guitar cord.
