...I got tempted by a unique Ibanez all-hog acoustic that's offered as a lefty; it's called the AC240LOPN (L = left-handed; OPN = open pore thin satin finish).

Shipped today; I'm hoping to see it by Friday.

Just checked FedEx - guitar is scheduled to arrive Thursday by end of the day! I'm stoked! I'll have some time Thursday evening to play her a bit!

The guitar arrived yesterday, so I've had a chance to play it quite a bit, and have also put a set of medium D'Addario Nickel Bronze on. This little Ibanez AC240 is pretty nice for $300! A comparable (+/-) $300 all hog (with solid top) guitar is Fender's Tim Armstrong signature model, and it looks, feels and sounds like a toy in comparison. (Edit: The Tim Armstrong signature MODELS [plural] run from around $349 - $429.)

The tone of the Ibby is decent, but not on the level of an all-hog Martin 15 series. Strong mids and highs - hog guitars always surprise me in this area of nice trebles. I don't know how long it takes for a hog top to "open up," but I suspect it's as long or longer than spruce. I'm planning on keeping this thing and finding out. (Will be fun to compare it to the Larrivee when it arrives.) I suspect it will have more volume later as well.

The Ibby also needs the nut slots lowered - like almost every guitar I've ever bought (especially acoustics) - and may need the saddle lowered a little as well. I've tweaked the truss rod a bit so that the neck has almost no relief in it. No buzz, but very hard to play, especially close to the nut. (Simply putting a capo on the first fret reveals how much better it will play after a set-up!) Otherwise, I like the neck and the smaller body makes it a comfortable player - not sure I like the term "couch guitar", but that's where I've played this thing the most so far.

Fun little guitar!
