FDP Forum / Fender Guitars: Telecasters / Dating a Telecaster body

Jun 23rd, 2016 08:39 PM   Edit   Profile   Print Topic   Search Topic

Hey guys, looking at a Tele for purchase, and I'm curious about the dating. Looking like a parts caster, the neck is dated 1983, but the body is harder to pin down. String thru, the neck plate has the serial stamped in the middle of the plate, and the serial is 59661. Will link the reverb page associated. Trying to discern the date for the body.

Impossible to even speculate--based in the pic and info in the ad, which states the markings on the body are illegible anyway.

Probably a parts-o-caster, and very probably the body markings were purposefully boogered in order to pass it off as "probably" something it really isn't.

There's a whole boatload of crooked deals like this on used guitars because there is so much money to be made from uneducated buyers.

Just don't tell it you're seeing a strat on the side.

other than that as peegoo said no way to tell from those photos.

But i'll say this if it's a good guitar it doesn't matter what year it was made 1960, 1990, 2015 a good guitar is a good guitar
