It is on the back of a strat headstock----
Serial number is MZ525225
This signifies MIM in 2005 correct?
Is not the 50th Ann. decal on 1995 necks?? Or were they are 2005 necks as well?

50th Ann.

MZ5 + 5 or 6 digits makes it 2005-2006.

The Strat was invented in 1954, so it's the 50th Anniversary of the Stratocaster.

Perhaps you're thinking of the 50th anniversary of FMIC which was 1996?

I understand the serial number----but would that serial number have the 50ann. badge on back of neck like picture shows----
trying to figure out if something fishy is going on----that serial number on neck ALONG with the 50Ann. decal---

It was on Craigslist today and a great price----but as I understand the 1995-96 has the skinny frets and small lightweight trem block----was wondering if it is a parts guitar or what----

A 2005 would also have the skinny frets and smaller block. They didn't change them until 2006 IIRC.

Nobody's going to bother to fake a MIM baseline Strat and do the anniversary thing too.

It doesn't add any value.

Yes; 2006 brought better shielding, bigger frets and bigger trem block. Keep in mind that serial numbers can overlap the actual year of production. I have an MIM Standard with an MZ7xxxxxx serial number that Fender told me rolled off the production line well into 2008.

I think they put that emblem on all Strats, Amer. or MIM for the 2006 sales year. My 2006 AmDlx has the same label but it is not a 50th anniversary model.

Looks good to go for me. There is always an overlap in production date and model year just like in automobiles. New one in the fall! Yay!

My only comment would be to stay away from 95-96 if it has sprayed over frets.. nothing but trouble.

FWIW: 2004 was the year of the 50th Anniversary Strats, both MIA & MIM. Production started in late 2003 and may have spilled over into 2005.
