DHL just called and will be delivering my first Mexican Strat in a few hours. I've read real good reviews about this model and cant wait to play some Shadows and Straits tunes on it. Will post pics later.

Who else here has 'em? How do you like this model?

I think Pinetree has this model? I've played them in stores. Nicely made guitar. Have fun.

You can do a number of very simple mods to convert the back tone pot to control the bridge pickup ... usually just takes one or two short wires.

When I do this mod, I put the middle and neck both on the middle tone control; now everything is covered ... I consider this the best mod because you're more likely to want to cut tone individually on the bridge pickup versus the other two...

What mikey says. I do the same thing. Bridge pickup on its own tone control. The other tone control runs both middle and neck pickups. Simple relocation of wires to certain lugs on the switch (soldering required).

I assume you mean Classic Series '50's, since the CP '50's doesn't come in Fiesta Red. I got my Classic 50's because of the way the chunky neck feels in my hand. It took awhile to get used to the small radius and small frets, but right now it's my favorite neck.

Congrats, they're great guitars.

Howdy Deep! Nice Strat you have there!

The tone control mod is a cinch: add a little jumper between the two middle tabs on the side of the switch facing the pots,

like this.

Peegoo, is that diagram showing the bridge pickup on the middle pot/tone control? That's how it looks to me...

reverend mikey,

If you look at the little jumper wire you add to the switch, you'll see it creates a circuit through the lower tone pot and then the cap to ground on the middle pot.

The simply-dimply mod puts the bottom tone control on both the bridge and middle pickups. This is /ok/ but not optimal.

You want to get the bridge pickup by itself--if the tone knob is on both bridge and middle, it affects 4 of the 5 switch positions. Bridge by itself only affects two (and the no.2 position not terribly unless it's all the way down).

I'm even more of a PITA because I want the MIDDLE knob to do bridge pickup ONLY. The reason is, it's closer at hand, and the tones for the middle and neck are usually full up, or rolled back slightly in a really bright room. But I generally don't mess with them once they are set. The bridge tone will be rolled back for rock tones, and back up for the proper no. 2 sparkle.

Been doing this for decades, it's the only way to go, IMO.

Tyrone - I like that...i.e. moving the bridge tone to the upper tone control as it is the bridge tone is the one I tend to roll on/off more. Sounds like a good mod for when I get home from the hospital. BTW - love Deep's new strat, I have a mid-90's MIM Squire Series that is what I understand to be Dakota red. It is one of my favorite strats for just doing everything music style I tend to play.
