FDP Forum / Fender Bass Guitars and Bass Amps / Bass Cube buzz issue

Jun 14th, 2016 08:09 AM   Edit   Profile

I have a 20 watt Bass Cube amp for practice. It developed, or perhaps always had and I didn't notice (I don't think so though) a buzzing sound. I replaced the speaker, so it's not a blown speaker. Sounds like it's coming from inside. Anyone have any insights or similar experiences that might save me some time or effort before I start taking it apart for a look?

You might try tightening all visible external screwheads on the exterior of the amp.

do you by chance have a cell phone in your pocket? just a couple of days ago, my amp started ticking and buzzing and squealing. i tried a new cable, different wall outlet, even different instruments. no change. then i took my phone out of my pocket. noise gone.

Yep. A cell phone stored on top of an amp can generate some strange sounds.
