FDP Forum / FDP Unplugged - Acoustic Instruments / NGD Taylor 214ce dlx

I've been after a Taylor 6 string for ages, and finally sprung for a used 214ce dlx. It arrived yesterday and it looks indistinguishable from new. Managed half an hour playing it unplugged last night and it plays and sounds perfect. Got it for less than half the price if a new one.

Chris, contribution to FDP on its way ;-)

The 200 series Taylors are quite nice. A good friend has the 210ce dlx. I've played it and think it is a really good value. Nice looking too.

I own an 814ce, GC6 and 312ce. I love Taylor guitars.

Yeah, I've had a 355 12 string for a couple of years, and our singer has a 414ce which is a beautiful guitar. I just wish I could've afforded one myself. ;-)

And........ The stars are back. Told you I was going to contribute ;-)

Just to update, I played it for a couple hours last night in various tunings, drop D, double drop D, Open G, and finally settled on a full tone down. It sounded great in all tunings and plays like........ well, like a Taylor should.

Plugged it in and the ES system sounds very impressive, better than the Fishman on my J180ec, or the under saddle Fishman in my '80's D35, although I found the best settings to be around 12 o'clock on bass and treble. Anything over 12 on treble started to sound a bit quacky.

I was looking for a good sounding, gig worthy guitar, but I'm not sure if I dare take it to gigs as it's the best looking 214ce I've ever seen.
