This is a longer one so no hard feelings if you bail.

Had mic's set up for an upright bass in the same room as an upright piano. While waiting for the player to arrive, I decided to bang this out. Totally off the cuff. only one small edit in the 8 minutes.

Used waves j37 tape machine and tg12345 console for my own warm faux Abbey Road sound.

Reminds me in sections of the Blixa Bargeld version of "Somewhere over the Rainbow" of all things.

Very very cool! Your motion is sometimes predictable and sometimes not, which is huge. Very listenable.

Is it the contrast that is good, or is the predictability bad in your opinion?

That was very nice. Since this is the recording forum, I would say that you captured the sound of the piano perfectly.

Lots of emotion in the improv though. I could feel it.

Thanks very much, Zach. I appreciate the comments. As long as I can get emotion across, I am satisfied :-)

The contrast is good because it surprises, and the predictability is also good because it allows the listener to feel like there are no 'inside jokes'.

I like it. I wish I had listened to Mom and paid closer attention to learning the piano in my formative years. ;-) One of the things that I'd like to do is learn Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 8 Op. 13 2nd Movement. One of these days, maybe when I retire.
