Played bass on Sunday in the band for a recital of students taught by my friends. He teaches drums, she teaches piano. The ages were 6 to 17. So fun. I played on 31 of the 32 songs on the playlist (Blackbird). Everything from Camptown Races (which we jazzed up) to Cold As Ice to Star Wars. Some newer artists, too, which helps me keep up with what the young'uns are listening to. (some crap, some pretty good!)

Not normally a bass player, but I really worked on my finger-picking chops, which I played probably 75% of the songs. The 17-year-old drummer played a Rush song (Limelight). Big applause. Great moment for him, and me! (no, I did not sing it. We had a female singer for that, thank goodness.)

Some great pro performers in the band. We had it in a really nice showcase room with a stage and lights and pro audio. Background vocals, percussion, the whole bit. Good show.
