I recorded this to try out a few new things.

EZDrummer
My Warmoth Gibson scale conversion Tele
A Free "Tape Saturation" plugin on the mono tracks

This is my take on Little Charlie and the Nightcats version. I tried to hang with Mr Baty's solo for the first few go arounds, then wander off on my own.

Track not found!

I've always liked Don Leady's version with The Tailgators. It really swings.

I had remixed and reposted the link, but apparently it didn't take.

I just re-edited the link which should work now.

Thanks Mark! I'm not really satisfied with the guitar. The rhythm and comping feel ok to me but the soloing had a couple of issues going. I was having some serious hand cramping around that time and the performance feels a little less than articulate. I also used my Warmoth Tele Thinline, neck pickup (GFS Goldfoil) + Boss GT-001. I'm going to be popping out that pickup and trying out a Kent Armstrong Stealth 90 as I think the Goldfoil sounds too polite.

But it was fun recording. I seldom (never) do just a 3 piece drums/bass/guitar thing.

Wow, that's awesome - loved it!

Not familiar with the song or any of the artists mentioned, so I guess I've been missing something.

Sweet looking Tele, too!

Thanks Joe! Little Charlie and the Nightcats have been a fave of mine for years, when it comes to West Coast Swing. Got to see them once when Charlie Baty was still on board, fun band.

I like Little Charlie and I liked your version.
The guitar sounded great to me.
Kind of interested in that Warmoth Gibson scale conversion Tele.. how does that work?

Thanks Martin.

From Warmoth site:

"Conversion necks are a Warmoth innovation that allow you to easily change the scale length of your 25-1/2" bolt-on guitar to either 24-3/4" (GibsonĀ® length) or 28-5/8" (Baritone length). They work by lengthening or shortening the distance between the bridge saddles and the string nut. Moving the bridge is not necessary."

It worked out easily for me.
