I put everything back together and fired it up.... The best way I can describe it is that Satan himself started screaming out of my cabinet! Something isn't right under the hood, it makes a crazy growling/buzzing sound. I have no control over volume and no instrument sound comes through.

I resisted the urge to try and fix it myself and took it to a pro. I described everything to him and he said not to panic. Hopefully it won't be too pricey.
