I just ordered one - figured it's worth a try for around $38 shipped.

Higher output than a standard neck Tele pup ...

I'll be putting it in a (lefty) Squire Classic 50's Vintage Telecaster. The stock bridge pickup seems perfect, but the neck pickup is weak and muffled. Hopefully this one mod (and maybe someday some new pots/caps) will be all this thing needs.

So anyone else here using one?

Yep, I have one in a homebrew Tele. Closest familiar pickup is the Fender Twisted Tele pickup.

It's a big, in-yer-face tone.

rev mikey, are is your tele the Classic Vibe 50's or something different?

I have the CV 50's and agree that the only thing that didn't grab me was the neck pickup tone.

I didn't try the Fatboy, but maybe I should have...
I got another GFS set (can't remember which now) and it was only a marginal improvement.

Ended up with a set of CS Twisted Tele (which are great btw) 'cause I couldn't buy a single TT neck pup here.

Like you said, I could have left the stock bridge pickup and been perfectly satisfied.

If I had tried the Fatboy, it might have saved me over a 100 bucks. Oh well, that's life in guitardom.

Be interested in your assessment once you get that
Fatboy in there...

You never know when another tele might enter my life ;^)

Thanks for the comments/reviews... I think it should work out well...

...I have the Rio Grande Tallboy bridge pickup just sitting in the box; I replaced it with the Seymour Duncan Antiquity Tele bridge pickup that had been in my Larrivee Bakersfield Tele... the SD is a great sounding pickup, but so is the Rio Grande Tallboy.

So, I may try to reunite the Tallboy set in my Warmoth, and put the SD and the Fatboy in the Classic 50 Tele. As I said, the stock bridge pup in it is fine, but if I'm going to start soldering, I may as well get it all done in one shot (including pots and caps).

Yep, as much as I enjoy working on guitars, I try to minimise the "open & close" bit as much as possible.

And do keep us apprised of the result with the Fatboy.

Well, because I read this thread. I bought and installed a Fatboy in the neck of my Xaviere Tele. I have a Seymour Duncan 59 in the bridge and the SD I had matched it was not quite what I wanted. I really love the Fatboy and it pairs well with the 59. The middle position sounds great. Here is the Tele.
